SPIRITUAL GROWTH - Myrtha Dubois

Turning 50 is when it all began.  I took a moment out of my birth “day” to think about my life until then.  What was I missing?  Oh I know…a phenomenal life!

I had worked since I was 16 years old, earned a Bachelor’s degree, married, divorce, and had children who are now all grown up.  Had the house, the picket fence and even an idea of a dog (in the shape of a hamster).  Hmmm. I have a couple of real friends and a few close family members.  I have had personal experiences, such as death and life in the making as well as professional, such as promotions, recognition. Still I had not begun living to my full potential nor have I ever been truly happy.  I was content, yes, but not really blissful.  I needed a divine intervention.  My request was answered almost immediately as if the universe was saying “it’s about time”.

I remember sometime in December, attending a workshop where I met a Lady who would bring me face to face with Myrtha Dubois and inches away to grasping my phenomenal life.  After a few one on one visits, self-reflection, a touch of truth and association with a group of like- minded individuals, I was prepared to accept my life as it was designed for me rather than continuing to live out the life I had designed for myself.  I was ready to receive guidance from a higher power.  After all, my Creator promised me an abundant life.  I needed to believe in that promise with everything that I owned (or didn’t).

In March, my vision began to be clearer which led me to activating my super/spiritual powers and take charge.  Please keep in mind that taking charge is different from taking control.  Anyways, I decided that within the next couple of months I would be working in the field I was most passionate about. I am a Personal Power Coach.  I started a plan.  I had a deep desire.  I had a settling, a sense of peace in my spiritual being.  I could not be more ready.  And just to make sure I didn’t back down, the corporation I worked for took away my backup plan and laid- off everyone in my department, two months later. By coincidence? I dare think not.  All that I thought of and did from the day I made up my mind, was coming in alignment with my Creators plan.  Hence the beginning of my spiritual growth, which is a process of becoming more like our Creator or as 2 Peter 1:5-8 tells us, “make every effort to add to your faith, goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.  For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive”.

Although Spiritual growth was intended for us long before we were born, it does not come easy nor does it come natural.  So we have to practice.  In my quest, I have found that religion teaches us to have faith with no action required on our part; our daily living, however, pushes us to “take control”.    Neither way guides us to spiritual growth because as you read, spiritual growth is a process and requires action but we must follow rather than lead.  Once we can build good habits, we will become effective and productive and our life will never be the same.  With the proper mindset and getting involved with a team who can hold us accountable, we can begin to make conscious efforts towards that phenomenal life that our Creator promised.  Otherwise we will continue to live as we are.  So the question to ask yourself is the question I had to ask myself and that is…Is this the way I want to continue to live?  My answer to that question was “no I will not continue to live this way”.   So after the layoff, I began to focus fulltime on myself in addition to making my actions transparent to those who sought the same result.  Wow! What a beautiful gift my Creator had given me and I refuse to continue to waste time with any more excuses.

In my journey, I have learned that spirituality is an awareness that should be felt and experienced and, that, spirituality should be a deliberate act or acts bringing you closer to the Creator.  As I continue to grow spiritually, I use the practice tools, shown below, consistently.  Hope it can help you get started and stay on the path to your phenomenal life!

Tools I use include:

  • Self-discovery; socialize with more like minded individuals—people who are searching or have found “the secret”
  • Prayer/meditation
  • Physical care/Health care/Mental care – eat food with more nutrients; exercise; read more; hygiene;
  • Stewardship/Give back/Make offer of skills – “each one reach one; each one teach one”

Give yourself permission!
